Adam Azim’s next fight Needed to Build Momentum

Headlining this weekend at the OVO Arena, Wembley, Adam Azim looks to move forward in his career. Facing Steve Claggett, the question remains: does Adam Azim’s next fight push him forward in the way he needs to enter world title contention discussions? Perhaps not. However, if the train keeps moving and momentum can build, Adam Azim seemingly has all the attributes to at least place himself firmly in those conversations.

Adam Azim’s Next Fight Follows Tottenham Breakthrough

Coming off a career-best win in front of a huge audience at Tottenham on the Eubank vs Benn 2 undercard, it was hoped things would move faster for the rising star.

Earlier this year, Azim was due to face Gustavo Lemos. Many felt it would have been a good test. Lemos has only lost to notable fighters Richardson Hitchins and Keyshawn Davis. In addition, Lemos carries genuine power.

Unfortunately, the fight was not meant to happen because both men picked up injuries.

Delays and Setbacks Slowing Adam Azim’s Progress

The deal that Boxxer, Adam’s promotion, has with BBC may mean he is not as active as required to force his way into major title conversations. Furthermore, the injury he sustained earlier this year has seemingly stalled his career. The loss of Sky Sports has also added to that feeling.

Dalton Smith flexing

Meanwhile, the fight many called for against Dalton Smith appears further away than ever. Dalton has already reached world title level after an away victory over Subriel Matias. As a result, he appears to have moved beyond his rival for now.

Momentum remains key for Azim. The talent is there. However, activity and opportunities now feel vital if he is to break into genuine world title contention.

Wembley Card Features Strong Title Action

The overall card also showcases several title fights.

Boxxer star Fran Hennessy defends her WBC Silver bantamweight title against Aurora De Persio. De Persio brings a similar record into the contest against the “Billion Dollar Baby”.

Meanwhile, Juergen Uldedaj puts his IBO cruiserweight title on the line against undefeated American Muhsin Cason.

Elsewhere, Joel Kodua defends his English welterweight title against Will Harrison.

The card also features heavyweight action, with Ergal Elezaj looking to move to 6-0 while Dan Garber attempts to stop his progress.

If Adam Azim’s next fight is to truly move him towards world title level, momentum remains essential. The ability appears to be there. Now, the challenge is keeping his career moving at the pace needed to reach boxing’s highest level.
