Cacace V Dickens Result, Cacace Wins World Title, Expert Opinion & Highlights

Anthony Cacace fought back with aplomb on Saturday, March 14 in front of a raucous, St. Patrick’s Day weekend crowd at 3Arena in Dublin, beating James ‘Jazza’ Dickens by decision on a Queensberry Promotions card live DAZN by Frank Warren.

Though a maiden defense of his WBA super featherweight world title, Dickens was unable to retain the belt despite an early lead, as Cacace flipped the script in the fourth, and from there boxed well to take the title from the champion.

Jazza Dickens vs Anthony Cacace: Fight Report

Though the fight was held at 130, Cacace had a considerable size advantage in the ring, pummeling Dickens to the body and head. In front of his own fans, Cacace looked strongest in the middle rounds and held on for the win against the visiting fighter, prevailing on the scorecards, to become a two-weight boxing world champion, pursuing even more honors as he’s determined to see his name alongside Katie Taylor as one of the finest fighters from his region.

Dickens vs Cacace: Highlights

Post Fight Reaction: Anthony Cacace Comments on What’s Next

“I want to unify the division,” Anto said. “I want to have Emmanuel Navarette next. Saudi Arabia, wherever. I’m there.”

Post Fight Reaction: Frank Warren Has His Say

“He’s a two-time world champion and it’s unbelievable what he’s done. All credit to him, and his team. He’s pulled himself back together, with great skills, and showed everybody what it’s all about,” Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren said.

“We’re going to get bigger fights for him, here. This is his home. Ireland. This is where we’re going to make the fights happen.” said Frank Warren

Pre Fight Comments on Jazza’s Long Walk

For Jazza Dickens, this title defense is the culmination of a 15-year professional odyssey. After two previous failed world title attempts, Dickens shocked the boxing world last July by stopping the highly touted Albert Batyrgaziev in Istanbul to claim the interim strap. Later elevated to full champion after Lamont Roach Jr. was stripped, Dickens is out to prove he isn’t a “paper champion.”

Pre Fight Comments on The Apache’s Momentum

Anthony Cacace enters the ring as the betting favorite despite being the challenger. The Belfast man is on the run of a lifetime, having captured the IBF title from Joe Cordina in May 2024 before vacating it to pursue “bigger nights.” Since then, he has added a clinical win over Josh Warrington and a brutal stoppage of Leigh Wood to his resume. A win tonight would make him a two-time world champion.

Expert Opinion & Analysis

Key Factors for Victory:

  • For Dickens: In my opinion he must get past the long jab of Cacace. If he stays on the outside, he will be picked apart. He needs to turn this into a “phone booth” fight and target the 37-year-old challenger’s body early.
  • For Cacace: I see the jab as a range-finder and a weapon. His ability to switch from boxing at range to delivering crunching uppercuts in the pocket (as seen in the Cordina fight) makes him incredibly dangerous as the “bigger” man.

My Prediction

While I think Dickens has the edge in experience and sheer heart, Cacace’s recent form is hard to ignore and makes him favourite across the UK bookmakers for a bet on tonights boxing. The Belfast man is “riding a crest of a wave,” and his ability to stop elite-level 130-pounders like Wood and Cordina suggests he has the power to keep Dickens at bay.

The Pick: Anthony Cacace via late-round stoppage or a wide Unanimous Decision.
