UFC return of Conor McGregor appears to be gaining serious momentum after Dana White delivered a major update regarding the former two-division champion’s comeback.
For months, reports have circulated that McGregor could return this summer, potentially headlining UFC 329. At the same time, the Irish superstar has continued teasing fans by regularly posting training footage and workout clips across social media.
Now, White has added even more fuel to the speculation.
Speaking recently with Jim Rome, White was asked about McGregor’s return. He admitted that several positive developments behind the scenes have made him increasingly confident that McGregor will fight this summer.
“I’m extremely confident it’ll happen this summer,” White said.
Although the UFC CEO stopped short of officially confirming an opponent or event, his comments strongly suggest that serious discussions are already underway.
“There are a lot of great things going on behind-the-scenes that make me very confident that he will fight this summer,” he added.

The statement immediately reignited excitement among fans who have waited years to see McGregor return to the Octagon.
Conor McGregor continues teasing a return
McGregor has been out of action since suffering a broken leg during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.
Since then, several comeback timelines have surfaced. He was scheduled to fight against long-time rival Michael Chandler at UFC 303. However, he broke his toe a few weeks before the bout and withdrew from the fight.
McGregor himself has continued hinting at a comeback over the past few months. The former UFC champion has repeatedly uploaded footage of intense training sessions, pad work, and conditioning drills. Teasing for a return to camp behind closed doors.
Speculation surrounding UFC 329 has only increased as a result. Many analyst and fighters alike believes he will face Max Holloway in his long-awaited return.
Max Holloway open to McGregor rematch at UFC 329
In his recent appearance on UFC on Paramount+, Holloway addressed the growing rumors and admitted he would welcome a rematch against McGregor. The former featherweight champion emphasized that ‘The Notorious’ appears locked in based on the training footage he has shared online and believes the Irish star is serious about making his comeback.
‘The Blessed’ also highlighted the magnitude of any fight involving McGregor while making it clear that he would love the opportunity to avenge his earlier defeat.
“I mean, we have history. He looks hungrier. He looks super hungry. He just did a boxing exhibition not too long ago so that was pretty cool to see him. I would just like to get one back. It’s a huge fight. It’s a big fight. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge but having history with the dude, being able to get one back would be cool. I’ve got to get my get backs on one of the guys. If I can keep knocking down the list, that would be great.”
Holloway said he has not heard anything official regarding UFC 329, but he admitted the timeline would make sense.
“Maybe, we’ll see what happens,” Holloway said about fighting at UFC 329. “I’m seeing all the talk that you guys see. I really didn’t hear anything yet, but that wouldn’t be a bad time.
McGregor faced Holloway way back in 2013. In the back-and-forth fight. The Irish star secured a unanimous decision victory.
